Take the kids on a free picture book trail this October

If, like me, you’re always on the lookout for free, fun activities to keep your children occupied then check out Gloucester Road’s free picture book trail this month. Not only is it free, but kids will also have the chance to win a £60 book voucher and another £60 voucher for their school!

Local children’s publisher Book Island has teamed up with businesses on Gloucester Road to organise this fun event which is perfect for children aged 5 to 9.

All participating independents – Playfull Toyshop, Flo-Jo Boutique, Iota, Bakers and Co., Bishopston Library, Vets4Pets, Catch the Moment, Room 212 and Romantica – will have one Book Island picture book on display, either in the window or inside the shop. Each book comes with a question and all you have to do is quickly flick through the book to find the answer.

“Last year children from 8 different local schools took part,” publisher Greet Pauwelijn said. “We’re hoping to reach many more families and schools this year. Our picture book trail is a fantastic opportunity to spend quality time with your children while reading inspiring books and exploring the Gloucester Road, especially with half-term break coming up”.
