Monday madness. Money-saving ideas this week.

Jun 27, 2016 | Uncategorised

Welcome to Broke in Bristol’s Monday blog – the blog that helps you save money, make money and live life to the full on a budget. I’m Ms Broke in Bristol and I’ve got a Euro 2016 special – as well as deals on eating out and cinema tickets – lined up for you this week!

It’s England v Iceland this evening and Harvester pubs are dishing out vouchers worth £5 off your food and drink bill if it comes to £25 or more until June 30.  Or it might work out cheaper to take advantage of its Kids eat for £1 deal – which runs every day of the week. You can also get 30% off your food bill at Flaming Grill Pubs when you sign up to Vouchercloud and kids eat for £1 between 3 and 7pm every day. There are three Harvester and two Flaming Grill pubs in Bristol, check out their websites to find your nearest.

Hungry Horse establishments are really going to town on special offers and regular readers will know that this makes me very happy as I sometimes frequent the Brunel in Bedminster! Its pubs are knocking £5 off a £15 bill when you sign up to its reward scheme and kids eat for £1 on Mondays. What’s more, you can also save 10% on drinks with its Season Ticket. If you’re looking to head into central Brizzle, Fullers pubs are offering everyone who plays football roulette on its website a free pint and it owns the Old Fish Market in Baldwin St and the Cambridge Arms in Coldharbour Road.

If, like me, you’re staying in to watch the footie on the telly, all the big supermarkets have deals on food and drink with Asda coming up trumps with its deal on three cases of beer for £20. You can also mix and match which keeps everyone happy! Or check out Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco for their special Euro 2016 offers, and check out MySupermarket  for all the food and snack deals before going to the shops.

Save £18.80 on cinema tickets

This week you can pick up two free cinema tickets for Cineworld when you buy any three products from the Finish/Dettol/Vanish and Airwick ranges in-store or online from Wednesday 29 June to 19 July. This is a great deal if you need to stock up on your cleaning products anyway and you can pick up three items for £3. Adult tickets at Cineworld in Hengrove usually cost £9.40, so that’s a saving of £18.80.

I’ll be snapping up this deal and dragging the reluctant Mr Spendthrift to see Me Before You (12A). It’s a swooning romantic weepie – but the real reason I want to see it is not because I’m an old romantic – but because a friend of mine, Muzz Khan, plays Syed in the film.

He may be making his way in the acting world, but when we met, Muzz was a skint drama student. Even now he still takes advantage of special offers and buys his toiletries and baby stuff in bulk! It just goes to show you don’t have to be skint to be savvy!

That’s it for today folks. Keep a look out for our weekend blog which will help you socialise (with or without the kids) on a shoestring. Don’t forget to like our Facebook page to make sure you don’t miss out on all the best local and national deals, as well as the pick of the best free and cheap events happening in and around Bristol.
