Good morning Bristol & beyond – I hope that everyone has been coping OK over the last few months – it certainly hasn’t been easy with the worldwide pandemic affecting our financial and emotional wellbeing. For the first six weeks of lockdown I was super-productive, soldering on with simple DIY tasks and still managing to juggle work despite having a moody teenager under my feet. But about halfway through my positive mood started to slip and I slumped into couch potato mode. There was only one thing for it – a dose of retail therapy!
So where do you go for a shopping fix when you are tightening the purse strings due to the economical impact of Covid-19? I’d already heard about a website called Everything5pounds.com but I’d been previously put off by the higher than usual delivery charge (it’s determined by package weight). And to be honest I hate shopping for clothes online because you can never be sure about the sizing and more often than not I end up disheartened and sending it back.
But when I noticed the site was having a summer sale with lots of things actually priced at £2.50, I couldn’t resist the temptation. So Little Miss Diva and I went shopping from our sofa and found some stuff we REALLY liked! I picked up this pair of leopard print, wide legged trousers for £5 that the model is modelling in the main image.
Neither of us could resist this cute cardigan at just £2.50 and Little Miss Diva teamed hers with this green corduroy skirt for £5 and these beige platform shoes also £5 (pictured).
But it wasn’t all good news. I ordered a red multi Luc-ce playsuit for myself as it was supposed to be a medium size 10 to 12 but it only just fits Little Miss Diva who is no bigger than a size 6 to 8. Stupid sizing is exactly why I don’t like shopping online in the first place!
One of the downsides is that it’s difficult to know where your clothes are coming from as Everything5pounds.com sources overstocked or last season clothes from the likes of Topshop, Asos and Zara as well as unbranded items from other retailers – so you could be getting an absolute bargain but you won’t know until it lands on your doorstep. My advice is to check out the reviews and do your research before ordering too many items.
In conclusion, my first experience with this online shopping site was pretty favourable – I’d give it an 8 out of 10. I love a bargain and this site prevents clothes that are last season from going to landfill so that can only be a good thing, right? I’ll be encouraging Little Miss Diva to continue ordering from here (at those prices you can’t go wrong!) but I’m looking forward to going back to my usual haunts where I can try stuff on in the changing room beforehand.
Total bill £33.32. That’s 6 items for £25 plus £8.32 delivery charge.
