Apr 28, 2020 | MAIN FEED

If you, or someone you know, is still struggling to get a supermarket food delivery slot, this box of bits and bobs from Home Bargains might just be a lifeline.

This box of food, which costs £23.99 including delivery, has quite a few staple items inside and could be just the trick for vulnerable people who can’t get to the shops during the UK lockdown.

Home Bargains is the latest in a line of retailers to launch their own food box to help the vulnerable and those self isolating get their hands on essential supplies during the Coronavirus pandemic. Inside the parcel you’ll find:

Meanwhile, check out Shopping Slot which scrawls Asda, Tesco, Iceland and Waitrose for the next available delivery slot according to your postcode. I couldn’t find any slots this morning but if you keep checking, slots do usually come up for Iceland.

If you have to go out then Supermarket Check in is a really smart app that allows you to check just how long the queue is at your local supermarkets before leaving the house. When I checked this morning, my nearest Tesco and Sainsbury’s had 10 in the queue but Asda and Iceland had no waiting times at all. As the app relies on updates from customers, I’ve yet to see how accurate it is but I think it’s a fabulous idea – the app is available on Apple’s App Store or Google Play.
