Welcome back to Broke in Bristol – & beyond the blog that helps you save money, make money and invest in your future. Today, I’m going to round-up the free online stuff you can take advantage of which will help you keep the kids busy during the Coronavirus pandemic. If I’ve missed anything, please let me know in the comments and I’ll update this post as soon as I can.

Little Miss Diva’s school closed its doors last Tuesday to children of non-essential workers but luckily for me she’s 13 and happy to retreat to her room and get stuck into the work schedule she’s been set. However, I know this is not the case for everyone! I do not envy those with younger children who need to be hone schooled and I have every sympathy for single parents right now.

So, if you haven’t already, start your school day with PE with Joe. You can sign up for free to The Body Coach and online nutrition coach Joe Wicks has been getting millions of kids off the couch at 9am every morning for a half an hour workout and kids (and parents!) are loving it.

Meanwhile, musician Myleenne Klass will be teaching online music classes via her YouTube channel MyleeneMusicKlass on Monday and Fridays at 10am as well as hosting lullabies for little ones at 6:30pm every Wednesday. Carol Vorderman’s online maths programme, The Maths Factor, has received thousands of new sign-ups after the former Countdown star made the subscription service free while children aren’t at school.

And best-selling children’s author David Walliams will be reading extracts from his famous books every day at 11am. Elevenses with The World of David Walliams will certainly make reading fun and give parents a much needed break.

You can also get free English, Maths and Science workbooks for Reception, Year One and Year Two Primary age kids at https://www.educompendium.com. For older children, try BBC Teach for free which is a website with thousands of curriculum videos arranged by age and subject.

Another fantastic online resource is teencalm.com where you can find educational resources for any subject but also some fun stuff too. Why not learn sign language, check out these online tours of attractions and museums. or get crafty with the kids. Do you know of any other online resources that will help keep the kids occupied during Covid-19? Please feel free to share them – Broke in Bristol – & beyond is on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
