It’s Thursday – which can only mean one thing – it’s time for our pick of free and cheap things to do in Bristol! The big event that’s happening this weekend is of course Massive Attack, but if you haven’t managed to bag yourself some tickets, don’t worry as there’s loads of other stuff going on that won’t break the bank.
Tonight (1 Sept) there’s a new comedy night coming to town and it’s only £3 on the door. New Material is debuting at the Arts House in Stokes Croft and it promises to be the friendliest gig in town. Also kicking off today is Bristol Oktoberfest which will be taking over Millennium Square from 1-4 Sept. It pays to be organised and to book your ticket through Groupon as it is offering 55% off, just click here to get the deal.
Tomorrow, the Blue Mountain Club is hosting a cheap club night called Trancelation which will set you back just 3 quid on the door before 11pm and Saturday night’s highlight has to be Motion’s Massive Attack after-party which is only a fiver. During the day you can take the kids to At-Bristol for Mini Maker or check out Bristol Biennial for loads of arts and activities taking place throughout the city.
On Sunday, I can’t decide whether to take Little Miss Diva to the free family festival at Mina Road Park in St Werburghs where she can enjoy a free donkey ride and have her face painted or head on over to Brislington for Make Sunday Special. Brizzlewood is a celebration of Brislington with a Hollywood theme and on Sunday Hollywood Road will be closed to traffic to make way for the All Star Stage including spoken word, comedy, bands and a Zumba demonstration.
There’s also a Great Aarty Party at the M Shed, free dance classes for children and adults alike and the Watershed’s Ale Festival kicks off next week too.
