Welcome back to Broke in Bristol – the blog that helps you save money, make money and live life to the full on a budget. I’m Ms Broke in Bristol and I’ve got 10 tips that will save you money this week!
This week Little Miss Diva has been invited to a sleepover so that means Mr Spendthrift and I can slope off to the cinema. I can’t remember the last time I paid full price for a cinema ticket – and this week is no exception! I’ll be swapping my 1,000 Sainsbury’s Nectar points for two adult cinema tickets to see Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie at Vue in Longwell Green. There’s also a Vue cinema at Cribbs Causeway, or you can swap your points for two pizzas at Pizza Express before August 9.
I may also see if I’ve got time to fit in a quick beauty treatment. Treatwell is a great website if you’re looking for discounts on spray tans, hair dos and waxing with prices at Bristol salons starting from as little as £5! I use the site to book my HD Brows at Sairaz in Broadmead which I pay £15 for and there are salons all over Bristol offering discounts of up to 50 per cent!
If you’re looking for a massage it’s worth checking out Bristol College of Massage and Bodyworks as students are often looking for case studies. If, however, you live or work in Bath, V Holistic Therapy is offering a massive 50 per cent discount exclusively for Broke in Bristol readers. All you have to do is mention Broke in Bristol when booking and you can enjoy a 90 minute massage for just £30. This is much cheaper than any 90 minute massage I found on Groupon and Verena comes highly recommended!
I start my day by trawling through the vast amount of deal websites, so when I came across Bownty this week, I was super excited! It promises to save me time by bringing me all the Bristol deals from sites like Voyage Prive, Wowcher and Groupon and there were a couple of deals on there that I hadn’t seen before. I found a cracking deal if you’ve got a child’s birthday coming up. Paintball Networks in Backwell is offering a party for up to 10 kids with 100 paint balls each and a light lunch for just £34.95 – that’s a saving of up to 84%! Who said kids’ birthday parties had to be expensive?
Speaking of birthdays, if you need to buy someone a present this week it might be worth checking out Fragrance Direct which has 100 buys under £10 including some popular perfumes and aftershaves. Or, if you’ve been inspired to become the next Andy Murray, Sports Direct is selling beginner tennis rackets for £12. It also does a pretty good fashion range and often has discounts on big brands too. If tennis isn’t your thing, how do you fancy a free Pilates class? Just turn up to the free class for mixed abilities at the Elephant House in BS3 at 9.30am on Wednesday 13 July or keep an eye on runstretchtrain.com for details of future classes.
If you do one thing this week – pop into Aldi for its school uniform range. From this Thursday 14 July, you can pick up a pack of two polo shirts, one skirt/pair of trousers and a jumper all for just £4 online and in-store.
That’s it for today folks, but please do let us know if you hear of a great local deal by leaving a comment on our Facebook page.
