It’s Thursday – which can only mean one thing – it’s time for our pick of free and cheap things to do in Bristol! Everything listed this week is either free or under a fiver – you can’t say fairer than that!
The Paralympics on the Big Screen
The Rio Paralympic games have already begun and once again Big Screen Bristol will be showing daily coverage of the games until 18 September. If the much-talked about Indian summer makes an appearance, take a picnic and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in Millennium Square by the fountains.
A great night out
September’s edition of Motion’s Free Rave is kicking off tomorrow (Friday 9 September) and it’s free entry before midnight, £5 after or you can secure your place in advance for £1 plus booking fee. For a more chilled out evening, Factoberfest is on at the Tobacco Factory this weekend and you can expect some of the very best craft beers, live blues, top notch food and plenty of stuff for the kids to do. Bristol Eats kicks off Friday night with its pop-up street food.
Fashion & art
On Saturday I’m going to take Little Miss Diva along to the Fashion Salvage Kilo Sale near Feeder Road to spend her pocket money. You can pick up a kilo of vintage clothing, shoes and accessories for £6 and it’s only £1 to get in. Just a short walk away at the Old Passenger Shed, Bristol’s Affordable Art Sale is taking place, which could be another chance to pick up a bargain with art work on sale from £50, £4 entry.
Tour of Britain
This weekend the Tour of Britain also comes to Bristol and there will be loads of stuff happening all across the city including an individual time trial and a circuit race which will start at the Downs. To celebrate the Tour of Britain coming to Bristol, Bristol Zoo is offering £5 entrance for Saturday 10th September (on the day gate purchases only).
Bristol Doors Open day
There’s also a Food and Drink Festival in Chipping Sodbury, a Little Pickles market, a family fun day at Hengrove and this weekend is Bristol Doors Open day. If you’ve ever wanted to take a sneaky peek behind many of the city’s fascinating buildings, this is your chance. Just check the website for details of which organisations are taking part.
